A frosty weekend awaits Kazakhstanis
Kazhydromet specialists have provided a weather forecast for the republic for the next three days, Kazpravda.kz reports.
According to forecasters, a large anticyclone centered over Siberia will continue to bring freezing weather to the northern and eastern regions of Kazakhstan over the weekend.
In the west and south of the republic, weather will be determined by a southern cyclone and associated atmospheric frontal systems. Unfavorable weather conditions are expected here, including precipitation (primarily snow), ground blizzards, gale-force winds, and icy conditions.
On January 17-18, heavy precipitation is forecast in some areas of the Turkestan, Zhambyl, and Almaty regions.
As the new week begins, another northwesterly cyclone will begin to move north, northwest, and across the center of the republic, bringing snow and blizzards, as well as a gradual increase in temperatures in these regions. Fog is expected across the republic, the meteorological service added.
