Kazakhstan will allocate a million dollars to help Turkey
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the Government to allocate $1 million to provide emergency assistance to the Republic of Turkey, which suffered as a result of a catastrophic earthquake. This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazpravda.kz reports .
Also, the authorized bodies of Kazakhstan, together with the Turkish side, are studying the issue of providing additional assistance to eliminate the consequences of a natural disaster, the administration of the head of state added.
Recall, 2 powerful earthquakes (magnitudes 7.7 and 7.6) with an epicenter in the southeastern Turkish province of Kahramanmarash led on February 6 to large-scale destruction in 10 provinces of Turkey.
Serious damage was also recorded in the province of Hatay, where on February 7, tremors of magnitude 4.4 were recorded in the Mediterranean Sea at 02:29 local time .
On the same day, at 06:13 local time, another earthquake of magnitude 5.3 was recorded in the province of Adiyaman in southeastern Turkey. The epicenter was in the Gelbashi area.
Kazakhstan sent its rescuers to Turkey to help in the aftermath of the earthquake. Rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan have already started search and rescue operations in the Ibrahimili region of Turkey. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his condolences to the President of Turkey.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared seven days of national mourning in Turkey for the victims of the natural disaster. The state flags of Turkey are flown at half mast throughout the country.
The devastating earthquake was also felt in neighboring countries, including Syria, Lebanon, TRNC, Greek Cyprus and Iraq.
According to the latest data, over 1.6 thousand people died in the Syrian provinces of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama, Latakia and Raqqa.
