The Asian Table Tennis Championship will be held in Kazakhstan for the first time
In 2024, the Asian Table Tennis Championship will be held in Almaty. This was announced by the Kazakh federation, which received official confirmation from the Asian Table Tennis Union ATTU, Kazpravda.kz reports .
“Kazakhstan has long established itself as a country that holds all events at the highest level. Year after year they show high professionalism in organizing international table tennis tournaments. Therefore, we are confident in the success of such a major launch in Kazakhstan,” ATTU commented.
It is noted that this Asian Championship will be a qualification for the individual world championship, which will be held in Doha (Qatar) in 2025.
“We approached this step by step, first organizing tournaments among the CIS countries and Central Asia. We managed to host the final tournament of the world series “World Tour Grand Finals” and hold three world starts of the Contender series. We are growing every time, as noted by experts from the International ITTF Federation and WTT World Table Tennis Federation. We have an excellent team of professionals who know their business. Therefore, I can confidently say that we are ready to reach a larger scale. This is a serious step for all of us. And we will make every effort to hold the continental championship with dignity and organize a real table tennis holiday in Almaty,” said the President of the Kazakhstan Table Tennis Federation Daniyar Abulgazin.
Let us recall that at the recent 2023 Asian Championships in South Korea, the Kazakhstan team made it into the top eight and was able to qualify for the 2024 World Team Championships. Now, next year, Kazakhstanis will have the opportunity to prove themselves at their home tournament and qualify for the 2025 World Cup in the individual category.
It is planned that the Asian Championship will be held in the fall of 2024.
