New theater season opens in Astana
At the beginning of the season, the audience will be presented with the premieres of the performances “Kyz Zhibek” and “Patsha Konilim, Not Deysin?!..”
In the capital, according to the established tradition, the new theater season begins on September 15 with the production of "Abai" by the Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, director Alimbek Orazbekov, Kazpravda.kz reports .
The tragedy based on the work of Mukhtar Auezov tells about different periods of the life of the great Kazakh poet and educator Abay Kunanbayev. The role of Abai is played by People's Artist of Kazakhstan Tlektes Meiramov and Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurken Oteulov. In total, 65 actors are involved in the production. Production designer - Kanat Maksutov. The choirmaster is Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Amantai Zhumashev.
The theater notes that the thought of Abay, condemning centuries-old conservative customs and dumb forces, the development of Abay's philosophy and its globalization, with the dramaturgy of the great Mukhtar Auezov on the stage, despite its almost century-old prescription, has not lost its relevance for today's audience.

So, from September 19 to 24, Karaganda will host the republican theater festival "Syn - shyn bolsyn", dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Kalibek Kuanyshabev. Its curtain will be opened by a special show of the performance "Abai" of the capital's theater. The role of Abai has become the pinnacle of the stage art of the outstanding Kazakh actor Kalibek Kuanyshbaev, whose name the capital's theater has been bearing since 1993.
From September 25 to 30, the theater with the production of "Bayan Sulu - Kozy Korpesh" will take part in the International Theater Festival "ART-ORDO-2023" in Bishkek, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding actress, People's Artist of the USSR Baken Kydykeeva.
Later, in Petropavlovsk, from October 9 to 15, as part of the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the statesman and public figure Temirbek Zhurgenov, the Kuanyshbayev Theater with the support of the North Kazakhstan Region Akimat will organize the XXIX Republican Festival of Drama Theaters of Kazakhstan.
