Historic victory! Elena Rybakina reached the Australian Open final
In the semi-finals of the women's singles of the Australian Open, the leader of the women's team of Kazakhstan, Elena Rybakina, defeated the former world number one, two-time Australian Open champion, representative of Belarus Victoria Azarenka (24 WTA), Kazpravda.kz reports citing the press service of the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan.
The duration of the match was 1 hour and 40 minutes. The Kazakhstani made 10 aces, made 3 double faults and converted 5 break points out of 11. The match ended with the score 7:6 (7:4), 6:3 in favor of Rybakina.
Now the rival of the Kazakh woman in the match for the Grand Slam trophy will be the winner of the pair Arina Sobolenko (Belarus) - Magda Linett (Poland). The final will take place on Saturday 28 January.
Elena became the first Kazakh woman to reach the final of the Australian Open. So far, she has only one victory in the Grand Slam tournament on her account - in 2022 she won Wimbledon .
