What's happening in flooded Kulsary

This was announced by the head of the Emergency Management Department of the Atyrau region, Zhanture Demeshov, at a briefing at the Central Communications Service. 

Special commissions are created and a tour of these objects is carried out. 231 units of equipment, 1,198 units of personnel and 18 units of watercraft, 19 water intakes were involved.

Thanks to the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, work is underway to strengthen the dams and fill bags with sand. As a result, flooding of 302 residential buildings, 7 administrative buildings, 6 educational facilities, 1 private clinic, and 25 business units was prevented.

A total of 31,009 people were evacuated from the city of Kulsary. 20,821 people were evacuated to the Mangystau region, 7,445 people to the rotational camp of Tengiz, and 2,743 people to the city of Atyrau and other areas of the Atyrau region. There are 274 people in temporary accommodation centers opened in the city of Kulsary itself. 

“Since the floods, 203 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to the Zhylyoi district. A total of 125 messages were received. 179 people were saved. Pets rescued. Until complete restoration, emergency rescue operations will be carried out,” the speaker said.
